Lyrics

Thrymheimr

Sofa ek né máttak
sævar beðjum á
fugls jarmi fyrir;
sá mik vekr,
er af víði kemr,
morgin hverjan már.

Þá fór Skaði upp á fjall ok byggði í Þrymheimi,
Ok ferr hon mjök á skíðum ok með boga ok skýtr dýr.
Hon heitir öndurgoð eða öndurdís. Svá er sagt:

4x
Þrymheimr heitir

Svá er sagt:
4x
Þrymheimr heitir

Ok ferr hon mjök á skíðum ok með boga ok skýtr dýr.
Hon heitir öndurgoð eða öndurdís. Svá er sagt:

4x
Þrymheimr heitir

Svá er sagt:
4x
Þrymheimr heitir

Sleep I could not
on the sea beds
for the screeching of the bird.
That gull wakes me
when from the wide sea
he comes each morning

Then Skadi went up onto the mountain, and dwelt in Thrymheimr.
And she goes for the more part on snowshoes and with a bow and arrow, and shoots beasts; she is called Snowshoe-Goddess or Lady of the Snowshoes. So it is said:

4x
Thrymheimr ‘t is called

So it is said:
4x
Thrymheimr ‘t is called

And she goes for the more part on snowshoes and with a bow and arrow, and shoots beasts; she is called Snowshoe-Goddess or Lady of the Snowshoes. So it is said:

4x
Thrymheimr ‘t is called

So it is said:
4x

Bana

Ok vígdjarft vera
glaðr ok reifr
skyli gumna hverr
unz sinn bíðr bana

Ok vígdjarft vera
glaðr ok reifr
skyli gumna hverr
unz sinn bíðr bana

Ósnjallr maðr
hyggsk munu ey lifa
skyli gumna hverr
unz sinn bíðr bana

Ósnjallr maðr
hyggsk munu ey lifa
skyli gumna hverr
unz sinn bíðr bana

And be battle brave
Glad and cheerful
each man should be
Till the day of his death has come

And be battle brave
Glad and cheerful
each man should be
Till the day of his death has come

An unwise man believes
That he shall live forever
each man should be
Till the day of his death has come

An unwise man believes
That he shall live forever
each man should be
Till the day of his death has come

Ragnarök

Sól tér sortna, sígr fold í mar, hverfa af himni heiðar stjörnur

X2
Þar kemr inn dimmi dreki fljúgandi
Þar kemr inn dimmi dreki fljúgandi

fjölð veit ek fræða fram sé ek lengra
um ragna rök römm sigtíva

X2
Þar kemr inn dimmi dreki fljúgandi
Þar kemr inn dimmi dreki fljúgandi
Þar kemr inn dimmi dreki fljúgandi
Þar kemr inn dimmi dreki fljúgandi

The sun turns black, earth sinks in the sea,
The hot stars down, from heaven are whirled

X2
From below the dragon, dark comes forth
From below the dragon, dark comes forth

Much do I know, and more can see
Of the fate of the Gods, the mighty in fight.

X2
From below the dragon, dark comes forth
From below the dragon, dark comes forth
From below the dragon, dark comes forth
From below the dragon, dark comes forth

Odinn

Ein sat hon úti, þá er inn aldni kom
yggjungr ása ok í augu leit. Hvers fregnið mik?
Hví freistið mín? Allt veit ek,
Óðinn, hvar þú auga falt, í inum mæra Mímisbrunni.
Drekkr mjöð Mímir morgun hverjan af veði Valföðrs.
Vituð ér enn – eða hvat?

Alone I sat | when the Old One sought me, The terror of gods, | and gazed in my eyes: “What hast thou to ask? | why comest thou hither? Othin, I know | where thine eye is hidden.”I know where Othin’s | eye is hidden, Deep in the wide-famed | well of Mimir; Mead from the pledge | of Othin each mom Does Mimir drink: | would you know yet more?

Ymir

Ár var alda þar er Ýmir bygði
Ór Ymis holdi var jörð of sköpuð
Ór Ymis holdi var jörð of sköpuð

Ginnungagap, Niflheim, Muspelheim.
Ild, is, dråber falder.

Of old was the age when Ymir lived
Out of Ymir’s flesh the earth was created
Out of Ymir’s flesh the earth was created

Ginnungagap, Niflheim, Muspelheim.
Fire, ice, drops are falling.
Ymir, Jotun, creates the Aesir.

Níu Heimar

níu man ek heima, níu íviði, mjötvið mœran fyr mold neðan.

jörð fannsk æva né upphiminn,
gap var ginnunga,

níu man ek heima, níu íviði, mjötvið mœran fyr mold neðan.

Nine worlds I knew, | the nine in the tree. With mighty roots | beneath the mold.

Earth had not been, | nor heaven above,
But a yawning gap

Nine worlds I knew, | the nine in the tree. With mighty roots | beneath the mold.

Ask ok Emblu

Unz þrír kvámu ór því liði
öflgir ok ástkir æsir at húsi,
fundu á landi lítt megandi
Ask ok Emblu örlöglausa.

Önd þau ne áttu, óð þau ne höfðu,
lá né læti né litu góða;
önd gaf Óðinn, óð gaf Hœnir,
lá gaf Lóðurr ok litu góða.

Lá gaf Lóðurr ok litu góða.

Three Gods, powerful and passionate,
left Asgard for Midgard.
They found Ask and Embla,
weak, fateless in that land.

They had no breath,
no soul, no hair, no voice, they looked inhuman.
Odin gave them breath, Honir gave them souls,
Loth gave them hair and human faces.

Loth gave them hair and human faces.

Eptir Ragnarök

Kjóll ferr austan, koma munu Múspells
of lög lýðir, en Loki stýrir;
fara fíflmegir með freka allir,
þeim er bróðir Býleists í för.

Þá kemr Hlínar harmr annarr fram,
er Óðinn ferr við ulf vega,
en bani Belja bjartr at Surti;
þá mun Friggjar falla angan.

Sér hon upp koma öðru sinni
jörð ór ægi iðjagræna;

Sér hon upp koma öðru sinni
jörð ór ægi iðjagræna;

Þar munu eftir undrsamligar
gullnar töflur í grasi finnask,
þærs í árdaga áttar höfðu.

Over the sea from the east, there sails a ship
With the people of Muspell, at the helm stands Loki;
After the wolf, do wild men follow,
And with them the brother, of Byleist goes.

Now comes to Hlin, yet another hurt,
When Odinn fares, to fight with the wolf,
And Beli’s fair slayer, seeks out Surt,
For there must fall, the joy of Frigg.

Now do I see, the earth anew
Rise all green, from the waves again

Now do I see, the earth anew
Rise all green, from the waves again

In wondrous beauty, once again
Shall the golden tables, stand mid the grass,
Which the gods had owned, in the days of old
