Valravn
Valravn, Gealdýr’s second album, was released on March 10, 2020 and features 7 tracks written for two motion pictures (Valravn and Völuspá). The album combines the two music genres of Old Norse and soundtrack and has a very emotional and atmospheric feel to it. The movies will be available later this year.
1 — Valravn
Valravn is the first track and also the main theme of the album. The song is a tale about the fallen heroes of old; ‘valravn’ means ‘raven of the slain’.
2 — Deyr Fé
Deyr Fé is a song inspired by the Gestaþáttr poem; a strong poem that talks about the reality when it comes to our deeds in life and when we pass away to the next.
3 — The Ritual
The Ritual is a song where you can hear the Elder Futhark Runes Ehwaz, Laguz, Isa and Jera being repeated in a chant.
4 — The Seeress
The Seeress is an ambient vocal track that you will hear in the film Völuspá.
5 — Finality
The fifth song of the album, Finality, is an atmospheric and emotional song featuring string instruments and ambient vocals.
6 — The Fallen
Featuring ancient instruments and ambient vocals, The Fallen is a dramatic song that will take you on an emotional journey.
7 — Ashes and Embers
Ashes and Embers is a powerful emotional song in the last scene of the film Valravn what makes the film and the soundtrack come to a conclude.
